Nathan D. Painter, JD, MBA

Founder

Nathan D. Painter has been recognized as one of the top attorneys in the state of Ohio, being named a “Rising Star” for 2011, 2012, 2014-2018 by Ohio Super Lawyers and now a Super Lawyer for 2021.

Nathan has broad experience providing diverse services to private individuals, businesses and corporations, real estate agents, insurers, school districts, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, governmental units, hospitals, municipalities and others. His areas of specialty are Business Law, Business Litigation, Equine Law, Estate Planning, Civil Litigation, Family Law and Domestic Law.

Nathan has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court cases. Nathan’s experience includes serving at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was responsible for prosecuting a wide variety of juvenile and felony-level criminal cases. At Isaac, Brant, Ledman & Teetor, LLP, he represented public and private clients in cases that included Business and Commercial Law and Litigation, Contract Disputes, Ohio Consumer Sales Practice Act claims, Americans with Disabilities claims, Employment Law, Education Law, Section §1983 claims, and Election Law among others.

Nathan has served as a magistrate for the City of Hilliard and is former member of Hilliard’s Board of Zoning Appeals and served as President of Hilliard City Council for many years.

Nathan holds a JD, magna cum laude, Capital University Law School, an MBA, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University and a BA-English, magna cum laude, The Ohio State University. He is admitted to practice to the Ohio Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Northern District of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association.

Becky J. Brooks, JD

Of Counsel

As assistant prosecuting attorney for Franklin County, Becky gained extensive experience prosecuting a wide variety of Juvenile delinquency, traffic, and bind over cases, as well as Abuse, Neglect and Dependency cases. Additionally, she worked at the Family Drug Court Prosecutor and was appointed to the drug court board. Her areas of specialty include: Family Law, Juvenile Law, Guardian Ad Litem work, and Criminal Law.

She joined Painter & Associates, LLC to represent juveniles in delinquency and traffic cases, to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem, and to represent clients involved in Abuse, Neglect and Dependency cases. Additionally, she handles Victim of Crime Compensation, wills and trusts, estate planning, divorces, and child custody cases.

A very active member of the Central Ohio law enforcement community, Becky holds a JD, Capital University Law School and a BA-Communication, Cleveland State University. She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary, Franklin County Drug Court Board.

Kyle Lindenbaum, JD

Of Counsel

Kyle started as an Of Counsel attorney for Painter & Associates in 2020. In addition to his role at the firm, Kyle serves as a Contract Attorney for Trustpoint.One where he has gained over five years of experience in commercial litigation. Kyle’s practice focuses on Estate Planning, Business Law and Business Litigation.

Prior to practicing law, Kyle received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Capital University where he was a four year member of the school’s division III football program. He then earned a JD, cum laude, from Capital University Law School where he was awarded the Order of the Curia and pro bono legal honors. During his time in law school, Kyle externed for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and DHL Supply Chain. Additionally, he worked as a summer associate at a Columbus general practice law firm.

He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Columbus Bar Association. Kyle is originally from Hilliard, a graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School, and currently resides in Hilliard with his wife Elaine and son Jacob.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, cycling, and watching Ohio State and Cleveland sports. Kyle holds a JD, Cum Laude, from Capital University Law School where he graduated with pro bono legal honors and as a member of the prestigious Order of the Curia.

Thomas L. Hart, JD

Of Counsel

Mr. Hart is an experienced zoning and land development lawyer. He is a local government advocate with executive level leadership experience in the homebuilding and land development industries.He joined the Wiles law firm (now Isaac Wiles) in 2007 after serving four years as vice-president of governmental affairs, corporate ethics officer and counsel inside a public home building company.Prior to 2003 he was executive director of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio for seven years and remains an active BIA member.

In addition to zoning work, his practice concentrates in the areas of annexation, variances and conditional use approvals, BZA appeals, and land development regulation with successful case presentations in the following jurisdictions:

Columbus, Bexley, Dublin, Hilliard, New Albany, Reynoldsburg, Grove City, Westerville and Jefferson Township (Franklin County); Delaware County, Delaware City, Ostrander, Powell, Orange Township, Liberty Township,Berkshire Township, Berlin Township and Genoa Township (Delaware County);Marysville and Jerome Township (Union County); London and West Jefferson (Madison County); Violet Township (Fairfield County), and Commercial Point(Pickaway County).

Tom’s client base includes private landowners, home builders, commercial developers, municipalities, churches, medical professionals, business trade associations, auto dealers, apartment owners, condominium communities, and restaurants.

His other practice areas include vendor relations management; warranty representation and consumer dispute resolution; public utility advocacy; campaign finance compliance; association law and management consulting; and government relations at the state, county, municipal and township levels.Tom holds a JD from Capital University Law School and a BA from Wittenberg University. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association

Liz Russell

Paralegal


Meet Liz, a dynamic addition to our team at Painter & Associates. In February 2022, she embarked on her journey with us as a part-time paralegal after full-time employment with a mid-size law firm.

Liz’s passion for the legal field has roots dating back to 1992 when she earned her paralegal degree from Capital University while concurrently working as a legal secretary at a Gahanna law firm. She is a certified paralegal, having completed the Ohio State Bar Association’s inaugural certification program.

With nearly three decades of paralegal experience, Liz is a seasoned professional in probate and trust administration matters, estate planning, as well as real estate annexation and zoning. Her wealth of knowledge and expertise is a valuable asset to our team and clients alike.

Originally hailing from Gahanna, Liz has now made Delaware her home, further cementing her commitment to serving our local community.

Ashley Gee

Ashley is our indispensable legal assistant at our firm, providing invaluable support to our esteemed team of attorneys, including Nathan, Kyle, Tom, and Becky. With an impressive tenure of six years at our firm, Ashley has consistently proven herself as an invaluable asset.

Ashley possesses a wealth of knowledge in various facets of the legal field, including estate planning, trusts, dissolutions, and more. 

A proud graduate of Madison Plains High School, Ashley’s journey in the legal profession has been marked by dedication and passion. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is the loving mother of two energetic boys, Aiden and Ashton, a role she cherishes just as much as her work.
